Oh those Summer Nights

Summer Drinks

Summer in parts of North America is 90 days. But what can you do in 90 days? YOU can impact every area of your life, relationship and business.

Frequently, I’m asked how I manage to juggle all the balls in the air. I live a 90-day cycle and, at times, 180 days. Spring is planting, summer is nurturing, and on it goes.

If you are a gardener, you already know that summer is a season to nurture your garden. I say take it one step further. Nurture your garden, but also your soul.  Create memories, experiences and moments with family and friends.

In life, love and business create time and space to come completely undone – to transform.

As entrepreneurs, we are afforded spontaneity to play during the lazy, hazy days of summer in addition to our planned time. I am planning some amazing moments of fun with family and friends this summer.

I also tend to my life, relationships and business over the summer, nurturing each area and creating equal time and space to grow and flourish, so that fall is a time to harvest the best of the best.

Summer is also time to take on one project for each of the three areas that feed my soul and fill my cup – life, love and business. And, true to form, I have some pretty cool things lined up.

Here are a few of them.

LIFE

Moffat Electric Stove

before

Restoring a vintage electric stove – yes I did this! I love taking apart old treasures, and restoring and rebuilding them. The transformation and repurposing charges my creativity batteries. To transform it I must disassemble it completely. Each time I do this I learn something about the period and the piece.

This piece is an original Moffatt Electric Stove with coil burners patented in 1924. When I first saw her, she looked a little worse for wear. She sat precariously perched on a dolly outside what some might call a junk shop. She was rusted, banged up and looked like a skeleton of her former glory days. But when I examined her carefully, I could see her innate beauty and knew that with some elbow grease, paint and TLC she would shine again. I do for me and me alone, without apology and knowing full well the impact it has on my life.

Lesson: Do something, learn something, be something that inspires you and causes you to think differently. Remember:  sometimes you have to undo it completely to transform it!

LOVE: Relationships

The cornerstone to my relationships is dedicating time to be fully present. When I am in, I am all in – there is no dabbling. I show up and expect the same. I value the time I spend with others, and am committed to moments of genuine connection. I want to give the best of me, and I bring and want FUN. All conversations MUST be deep, real and authentic – no Fluff! This applies to all my relationships.

I’m so excited because my bestie comes this summer for a long visit! YAY! I have stuff planned for us, and lots of it. A chock-full schedule with moments to spend lingering, laughing and pie eating (of course)! Then my little peeps (grandsons) come and my beautiful daughter and husband. So we’ll have a family reunion with all of us together here on the island YAY! They are arriving in August. And I have some friends coming in for overnight stays as well – this is island life! Michael and I have some day and weekend trips planned. Accordingly, I have also allocated some heart filling time to spend with those I work with in our 12 for 12 program. And this list goes on…

Question: Are you all in each time you are with others? If so, congratulations. If not, what can you do today to change that?

Business

As the founder and CEO of Frock Off Inc., I work in both a 90-day and 180-day cycle. As an event producer and speaker, I work in the two cycles the majority of the time. And twice yearly I work in 365-day cycle as well. This working in planned cycles wasn’t always my way. As a creative being, having to work a plan initially felt restrictive and even claustrophobic. Once I began hosting events and seeing the challenges that can and DO occur, I quickly adopted the boy scout motto, “Be Prepared” because failure to plan is planning to fail.

Luckily I am a quick study. Event production requires far more than vision, it requires strategic planning and laser focus on each element. Live events (if you have ever planned them) are an entity of their own, comprised of moving parts and lots of them. Each live event I plan, produce and host requires attention, focus, nurturing and development. I begin with the end in mind, and then work my way backward to make it happen. That’s the lesson I want you to learn.

Your access to transformation is my goal, my mission and ultimately my responsibility when you come to a Frock Off live event. I provide access, connections, collaboration, knowledge, resources and a safe space to flourish, and your desire and own accountability. The results are measurable and, more importantly, life changing! Because of you we have grown, and will be producing seven events in 2016 including Phoenix, Arizona. WOWSA!

Keeping the focus on the three areas is my secret to juggling with a smile and living full on.

Tip: Keep the focus on your purpose, dreams, goals and why. Summer is a time to thrive, so feed your business, mind and heart too.

Nurture everything you cherish and value, and watch it flourish and reap the harvest.

What about YOU? What have you planned for this summer? Plan and execute your 90-day plan, and you will reap your rewards in September.
